We finally have our room back, but I have no photographic evidence to prove it. HandyMan and I were all over the place: new drywall was primed, subfloor was installed, bbq put together, floors were cleaned, garden was de-dandelioned, and mothers HandyMan and Wanderluster was feted. We’ll be painting tonight and I’ll be sure to post pics.
In the meantime, feast your eyes on these Before & Afters by Candice Olson, courtesy of Globe and Mail newspaper. Candice has a show called Divine Design, has a line of home decor products, and also appears frequently in Home magazine. Her show is entertaining and Candice’s sense of humour shines through… think a tall blonde Robin Hood and her merry band of men. And I love her own design sketches which are shown at the beginning and end of each show. Style-wise, Candice is contemporary but not trendy. Definitely not a minimalist, Candice makes liberal use of colour, texture, and pattern. She is very thorough, detailed, and is talented in her use of lighting, custom cabinetry, colour palette, and dealing with awkward spaces. What she does with basements and living room spaces is pure genius.
