Carpet Tiles

With the kitchen renovation only half-way done, I'm already looking forward to getting my house back in order. As it is, junk-mail is piling up on the dining table, books and boxes are strewn about the upstairs bedrooms, and dust covers everything. Somehow, one room has thrown my whole house vibe out of whack - my feng shui has shooed away :o\

One thing I'm looking forward to the most is sitting down for a nice formal meal in my dining room, with the new wheat curtains hung, the pendant light casting a soft glow, and a yummy meal on the table. All that's missing is softness underfoot since HandyMan and I are still on the hunt for a dining room carpet. We took a look at what Giant Carpet had to offer but weren't too impressed with their prices. We'll have to check out what Lowes and Home Depot have but another thing we're considering are carpet tiles. I did a bit of digging and was surprised to see all the options out there. Here's some, all from FLOR.com.

From L to R: Acorn Tonal Quartet; Laurel Needlepoint Stripe; Botanicals Curry; Laurel; Reed Tufted Frond; Modern Green Mix; Finer Things Taupe, Next In Line, Amazing Lace, Shirt Stripe French Cuff

I'd never considered using carpet tiles for the kitchen too but that French Cuff runner sure looks pretty nice! Has anyone reading used carpet tiles before? How durable are they? Do they stand up to wear and tear?
