LIVE BLOG: Bethel Republican primary

Bethel_Primary

THIS IS A LIVE BLOG: This post will be updated throughout the night.

Today, registered Republicans in Bethel are going to the polls and casting their ballots for their choice for First Selectman and Selectman.

Now, to say the primary campaign between the team of First Selectman Robert Burke and Selectman challenger Bill Slifkin versus Republican Town Committee endorsed First Selectman candidate Larry Craybas and Selectman Paul Szatkowski has been rough is an understatement.

Between the anonymous postings on the News-Times site, accusations between the two camps, and dueling appearances on local access television, Bethel Republicans are taking the term "eating their own" to new levels.

Add on the recent legal troubles for the First Selectman and you have in place one the most interesting election in Bethel in recent memory.

Will Burke or Craybas win the primary? We'll soon find out in a couple of hours. I'll be on hand in Bethel and will bring the results as soon as they're available.

10:00: Sorry for the delay. Just finished interviewing Matt Knickerbocker. I'll be posting my images from the primary in a few minutes.

8:45 based on unofficial numbers Craybas' team has beaten Burke's camp. Waiting on the official numbers.

8:30 results are coming in now.

7:30 PM: As we wait for the results, I'll post my observations on what I saw at the various polling places. Till then, here's video footage of the last television appearances of Burke and Craybas.
