When it comes to FREE and OPEN debates in Danbury, Lets turn back the clock to 2001 and take a look at mayoral candidate Mark Boughton in action when he first ran for office.
The News-Times, October 9th 2001.
Mayoral candidates will square off next week when regional and local business leaders ask them how they would boost the city's economic base.
The Greater Danbury Chamber of Commerce will host a mayoral forum as a way for residents and business community to hear the candidates' plan for Danbury.

Boughton and Setaro already have squared off at two debates. In recent weeks, they debated at forums sponsored by the citywide Parent Teacher Organization and the Senior Center.
Candidate Boughton also debated on local access television, as well as at the News-Times editorial board meeting...which equals FIVE debates.
Well, that was then, and now this is what Mayor Boughton had to say when the League of Women Voters tried to set up at least one FREE and OPEN debate.
"It's already late in the (election) cycle and we do have a full schedule of events," he said. "I also have a responsibility to run the city of Danbury."
Funny how time changed Danbury's last honest man huh?
